Hi all

Just thinking about the next "Top Shot" coming up on History channel.

The fellow who won the on the first show is a regular customer here in the shop.

Back last summer, we were invited to some "Top Shot parties" over at a local sports bar.

Great fun.

Ian Harrison and his wife are great folks. Both shoot IPSC locally

If anyone knows any other other competitors, hey lets here about it.]

Really enjoyed the show.

Got to meet the Gal that was on the first show too at the final party whe the winner was anounced.

Just some fun stuff.

Snowy, I love the show. Let me give you a thread preview...

Some people love the show...

Some people like the guns, and think that the "drama" aspects of the show are terrible and that they will never watch it.

The producers of the show actually came on this website to promote the casting call for the next round and the people on this website were so ignorant and rude to the person that I am sure they have written this place off as a bunch of lame, internet wannabes.

I am glad that you enjoy the show. I am looking forward to 2/7 as is my wife and daughters. They like the show BECAUSE of the personality aspect of the show.

In the upcoming season I know the guy Chris Tilly. He's a really nice guy and I have shot with him several times at USPSA matches. He has also done some one on one coaching with me. All in all a very level headed guy that is amazing to watch shoot!!!

I liked the first show, but like some others watched for the shooting, not the drama. I am sure the drama is there for those that are not so much into the shooting.

It is too bad the casting director got such a poor response here, looked at that thread, very unprofessional responses. It saddens me to see such.

Be watching 2/7 :)

Looking forward to season two, like watching the show for the competion. My sons and I got together and did our own little top shot, lots of fun. Youngest son told his freind that you have officially fired your last shot. We had to put the guns down we were laughing so hard.

The best thing about the first season was the fact that my wife, not a gun person, thoroughly enjoyed it. We had fun watching together, and she is looking forward to the next season.

Alot of folks thought the show was a joke and alot of folks liked it. As far as they posting here you open yourself up to both sides of a aurgument of said above.

I love to watch shooting sports not only in person but on TV when it is on. BUTTTTTTTT after the second or third episode which I ended up turning it off about half way threw the last one I watched as it in my opinion SUCKED.

Thats my opinion as if I really wanted to see a bunch of so called adults cry and whine about someone else.
After all the shooting and folks I have met over the years Myself and I mean a whole bunch of folks I talked to about the show realized which shooting sports we would never ever attend or support if they all are as much of jerks as a few of those folks.

A strictly shooting show without the whinning and back stabbing I would watch but that joke of a show they can keep as I truely hope folks do not think we are all like about 1/4 of them on that show.

A shooting match as spectator sport is dull, dull, dull.
I've shot a number of different events over the years but would not pay to watch any of them... unless I was up next to shoot.
The TV crew had to jive it up with gimmick shots, non gun stuff like bows and knives, and soap opera.

We are survivor freeks and always hole up and some friends for every episode.

The human drama part is what makes these "reality" shows interesting.

Watching the guns shoot Tanerite targets at 200Yds is, Yesssssssss DULL for sure.

The Politicing, the back biting and the other shenanigans that go on are what make the show.

Ian, has told us a lot about some of the crap that went on during filming.

He could not say anything until after the show was completely finished, other than he had participated.

The concept of the show is about the same overall results as Survivor and a couple others.

Survivor is not about "real Survival" nobody is in any real danger of starving or dieing, with medics within earshot and all.

The other show I like is "ice road truckers"

I am a CDL driver and have been for many years.
Yesssssss I have my hand into a lot of stuff.

I watch the truckers show and laugh at some of the antics and the drama that is staged to try and keep the folks at home on the edge of their seat.

Anyway, the photography on top shot is incredible. The photos of the bullets flying in real time and all..

Ian Harrison is now a PR rep for Crimson Trace company.

These reality shows do tend to put people in front of the world ya know.

My instructor, who is a police detective, tried out for season 2 but didn't make the cut. On monday they called him to try out for season 3. We are hoping he makes it.

The runner-up from last season, Chris, just had an ND with his M&P 40 in a Serpa holster and shot himself in the thigh.

My niece's uncle on her mothers side is Daryl Parker, one of the contestants of season 2.

I don't know him very well as I was in the Army and he was in the Marines at the time. I will say that he is very confident in himself and will take center stage if given the opportunity. I don't ever recall going to the range with him so I couldn't comment on his shooting skills.

A friend of a friend named Henry auditioned for S2. I do not know if he is on or not. Henry shoots IPSC and is damn fast. I RO'ed him for a SC stage and the five shots were just one solid boom.

I agree that it is a show for the gun-ignorant, but it does put shooting into a positive light. Even when the back stabbing and drama get a bit much, it is still doing some good for the gun owning community in general.
I did watch season 1, and I did enjoy it, mostly for the guns and the shooting aspects of it. I DVR it, so I can skip past the schoolyard antics.

I just wish they would get more of the actual gun information correct and use the "real" version of certain pistols instead of the clones. :cough: TZ pistol :cough: The show will hopefully have less drama and sitting around the house this time.

Some easy improvements for the show. Take note for season 3 please.

I think they could show a few seconds of "B reel" footage showing what the different types of shooting background when introducing the competitors. Most viewers aren't familiar with the differnt types of competive shooting matches.

Second, a little more HISTORY about the firearms being used would be REALLY nice. "Today, the competitors will be shooting the M1911. It was designed by John Browning for the US military...... It's single action semiautomatic.... Which means.... And it holds 8rds of .45acp ammuntion... Etc...." It doesn't have to be a long lesson just a couple sentences about them. I wouldn't mind even little factual pop-ups during the practice scenes.

Lastly, a little more diverse weapons selection. (There must have been a sale on Berettas or something.)

Just my .02

Im really bummed out Hikock45 didn't make season 2 cast.

Did he apply/try out for it? I really do like his Youtube videos. Good onscreen presence and he seems to be a great shot. Having watched the last season though (at least sporadically), I wonder a bit if they're not just a bit age biased. Seems like they were shooting (no pun intended) more for the 30-50 year age range on the competitors with a few exceptions.

I enjoy Top Shot but not the pathetic ramped up phony baloney drama pushed by the show's producers. They make a bunch of adults act like a group of middle school adolescents.

I DVR it and then fast forward to the competition phase.

I just hope this time its more focused on the shooting and less on the girlish drama (but based on the promos I expect the opposite).

I think everyone is convinced the drama is "produced" but if you spend any time in the Fire/EMS and I am sure Law Enforcement and Military Service you will find that groups of strong willed, tallented people forced to live together will have plenty of drama.

Add competition to it, and well... Come on man.

guys i actually love this show... my wife even loves this show... it has actually made her want to start shooting a little bit more... she bought me an Aerial Assault clay thrower last summer and now we shoot clay in our backyard... this summer we will add pistols to the shooting fun!!
