Top shot show on History

I was hoping for Jamie to pull it out, just because he seems like a good guys and they treated him rather poorly.

I thought Ashley was a good guy at first, but he really showed his ass. Needed slapped the way he was talking to people (really just Jamie).

Oh, and I miss Maggie. She was a cutie! ;)

Very nicely said Rembrandt. While the show has been fun to watch from a shooting aspect, I have not enjoyed the other parts. The military snobs on the show have been a big disappointment. Their attitude doesn’t portray those of us who are shooters or the military in a good light.

I agree with most sentiments. If I want a male soap opera, I'll watch WWE.

Same with Sons of the Guns - ok - building guns is interesting. Building stupid rocket launchers and watching Big Daddy Gunman pontificate - blah.

Shows like Tales of the Gun were classy. Not this.

I miss Tales of the Gun and other programming on the History Channel that was *gasp* actual history programming.

I don't even see where George had been that strong of a shooter, not strong enough to say things like "jay can't hang with any of the shooters left" or "Jamie is not a top 5 shooter in this competition".

The only events with which George has done well were the long range shooting which he is trained for, and he still lost that competition and the pistol shooting as you are being dropped, and he looked like he was about to wet himself before that event. I think you could run that event 10 times and George would win twice at most.

What George has succeeded in doing is, hanging on. He hasn't done poorly enough to warrant being voted for on performance, and hasn't done well enough for people to be scared of him. Beyond that, he has been great at manipulating people to vote with him instead of against him. He reminds me of the type of person who acts all friendly and sincere to your face, then stabs you in the back as you turn around. I think this week's show pretty much removed all doubt that it was the editors of the show who make him look like a low class individual. Considering he told everyone he would shoot Brian's target, and then shooting Jamie's and laughing about it. Pure childishness.

I do wonder, what the heck the grey columns were for, that were set up next to the balloons on the ground in the shooting while being dropped portion.

I suspect that the show edits the segments for maximum drama effect. Also it is a competition. It should be cutthroat and full of strategy and behind the back tactics, mind games etc. It is about surviving until the end. That's what makes it interesting. I don't really care who wins but I am going to watch next week.

I find it funny that many posters here whine about the dramatic portions of the show, yet go on to discuss the drama and why they like/dislike each competitor based on personality and not skill.

Are you talking about the bullet barrels that are sunk into the ground?

The thing I'm always wondering about is what they all have in their packs? They come to each challenge with a backpack or pack, but most of them are already wearing their eye protection and just use ear plugs. Maybe it's jackets for inclement weather and I haven't watched it close enough.

The other thing that cracks me up is the shot of the eliminated person walking away from the group. I say to my kids, "There goes another one, walking home":D

Besides a jacket or raingear, they have snacks and water in their packs.

It isn't much time on the air, but they are out there all day on day 1 and 2

Chris Reed wins it all.

I hope so. Either him or Joe. Gunney gets to me. It seems like he's been tagging along with the group, and hasn't been a shining star. Other than the last even, and the BMG, I don't remember George performing well either.

The only thing that I don't like about Chris Reed is that he snaps closed the side-by-side he has in the intro.

I agree. Gunny seems to be the weakest shooter left, he perfomed quite poorly and gotten a pass by his team so that they could focus on Jamie and Jay.

Thing is, I haven't seen Jamie or Jay do or say one thing offensive. Guys like George get to me. He's an immature little boy, with his picking on others, making faces and stupid comments.

i am suprissed that no one has gone postal yet, it would have been fine with me to see jamie just beat the crap outa Ashley and George, but hey, thats just me.

just curious, how much would it cost to enter a competition like that? id think it would be expensive, but have no idea

i also wonder how long the competition is going to last, the way it is going i almost hate to watch it, normally i record it so i can skip straight to the shooting parts, to much down time for drama aspects in between the contests

They are taking applications now for Season 4. Season one had just over 1000 apps, Season 2 had about 7000

There isn't an entry fee, you just summit your app and a video clip and see if they think you are good enough to be invited to the tryouts...they take the top 50...which takes a week.

The final 16 commit to a month long filming session...it is all filmed in SoCal

I printed out my application and was thinking long and hard about entering.......the times just aren't right for me, being a teacher and all. I think it would be fun, just don't think I could take someone like George. I really can't stand that cat. :barf: I too think that the military guys on there are a little bit arrogant to think that a civilian can't compete at their level..........as a civilian......I would love the chance to prove them wrong! Just wish they would air the show during my summer vacation!

Maybe next season they could choose a place where the wind doesn't blow at 40 mph for a month straight. Good thing they shot the .50 for that long shot. Anything else might have been pushed into the next county.

No actual out-of-pocket costs, just a sacrifice of vacation time and time away from one's family.
