thanks the pics don't give it the justice it deserves as it much nicer in person and I have decided after shooting it again 30 more times today I wanna get another one and sell my fantasy 44! I love this 36 caliber it's so much fun!! :)

So what is so much nicer than a regular Pietta 1851 Navy .36?

The wood is plain quarter-sawn, and the color case is no better than my $170 run of the mill Pietta 1851 that I bought from Cabelas a few years ago..

Is the gun functionally better? I doubt it.

Traditions can keep their high-buck Pietta versions. I have many other versions that they have never thought of.

all I can say is that this one shoots extremely well so I wonder how good yours shoots? no offense :)

yep guys she's a beauty plus shoots very very well didn't need to do anything to the sights they were spot on and I am using 25grs 3f goex with felt from durofelt 1/8th inch thick homecut wads soaked in my homebrew bore butter! ;)

What is the mixture of the home brew bore butter. I like the smell of that stuff haven’t tried the pine variety. Doesn’t it turn rancid after a few months.

i used 50/50 beeswax and generic allways save shortening but I am about to purchase real lard to go with this next batch of beeswax, and mine I made last year and its still good not sure how long it will last?

Thanks, you as well! Got mine earlier this year.

You still need to get a replica Pietta 1851 Navy .36 to use the parts I gave you! I think you will be well surprised by the performance. Paper ballistics are paltry compared to shooting the real thing.

Glad you are back here contributing as you always have.

Just a Pietta 1851 Navy .36 junkie.

You guys have some nice ones.

I’ve been doggin on a .36 for hunting buff and putting down rampaging hippos but that does not mean I don’t love em. This ‘51 is a 1996 [BH] Pie-Eddy. New from Cabella’s for $149.99 - those were the days. I’ve gone over the internals of this one (and all my others) with some paper, file and stone and it’s slick. It’s been a real pal.
The photos are a few years old. The '51 is looking more gun metal now, my favorite color.

Thanks jim.
I wish I could go ahead with the build. But although I got to work last Saturday and Sunday, that was an anomaly. We were told Monday that "Overtime is cut out, Period." And that was the exact words used. Maybe some day ill get to start gathering parts for it.

Those are very nIce! Something ive been curious about. What is the difference between the 1860 and the 1861?

Basically, the same gun except for caliber, size of cylinder, slightly longer forcing cone, no cut water table and an 1861 Navy has a Navy grip unlike the Army with its big plow handle.

Uberti has the 1861 done right with a 7.5” barrel. The Pietta is an 8” like the original Army, which for a Navy is not historically correct. I'm big on history but history aside, specifically for shooting purposes an extra 1/2 inch of bore don't hurt nothin'. Mine's a tack driver.
