Trail Boss Guideline for lead and jacketed bullets

I'm using these guidelines to hopefully make some jacketed light loads in my handgun calibers, starting with a few test loads for my 45 colt with Nosler 250JHP's.

You might want to be careful using Trail Boss with jacketed bullets in handgun rounds. IMR shows data with jacketed rifle bullets, but I'm unaware of any with jacketed handgun bullets. I just checked and couldn't find any data on Hodgdon's web site for Trail Boss with jacketed handgun bullets. Trail Boss seems to be a "lead bullet only" kind of thing in handguns.

Actually, I posted this in 2 other forums just today as well.

If you read the PDF that the OP linked to, you'll see IMR's new instructions for using Trailboss:

Basically, fill a case to the bottom of the bullet, and that's the max load. Back of 70% and there's your minimun load.

Jacketed handgun bullets included..... (my guess is that this was probably the OP's point)

It's a new approach from IMR and I am glad to see that they seem to approve the use of TB with all jacketed bullets, and apparently in any and all rifle and handgun cases.

I'm starting off with 5.8 to 6.5 in my 45 colt cases and checking after each shot for squibs, pressure signs etc.

Just researching right now but wanted to get the info out there so people who are experienced can start developing all sorts of loads, this powder just seems like fun.

I think I did originally read this info in one of Duck's posts.
