The last few years when I travel with my family I bring along one of my pistols (NY and PA pistol permit holder). I will be traveling to MA for a week and was thinking of bringing my Kel-Tec sub2K along with a 10 round mag. I have gone to handgunlaws.us, but the KT does not qualify as a large capacity rifle since it only would have 10 round mags. If it was unloaded while traveling in my car, could I keep it loaded in my hotel room? Is the mere possession of a rifle in MA w/o a FID breaking the law?

I realy think you should check with the Mass state police before you go.Even before you cross into Mass. ther are signs on the turnpike informing people that entering Mass .with an unregistered (any gun not registered in Mass) firearm is subject to a manditory 1 year jail sentence. Rifle , shotgun or handgun, it's all the same to them.

Heck, used to be the mere possession of a pellet gun in MA w/o a FID was breaking the law.
You can try for a non-res permit, but they make it as difficult as possible to get. You actually have to have an in-person interview, which of course entails making an unarmed trip to the state. Not to mention that it's only good for one year and costs a Franklin.

I never thought I would say this...but I'm GLAD I live in NYS! Thanks for the info folks. It looks like I go unarmed!
