Trimmed 250 cases today, looking for a better idea...

Used my old Pacific trimmer, purchased around 1971. Yikes, what a slow task. On top of that, I'm not really sure that the case mouths are square with the case head. I'm wondering what people here think is the best reasonably-priced trimmer (under $100), and what is the fastest trimmer. Maybe with luck they might coincide? I looked around on the'net and liked the looks of the Redding trimmer, though I'm not sure it would be much faster. All suggestions welcome -- thanks!

I was going to post this anyway..

I have an RCBS hand crank trimmer. I'm shortening 300 .30-30's to make .357 Herrett.

I removed the crank handle and replaced the slot head screw with a small bolt with a hex head. Now I run it with my cordless drill. I can take off 2/10's of an inch in maybe 30 seconds with no effort.

Cost 30 cents to go from crank to power. Just watch that you don't twist too hard and break off the screw. No problems so far

The Giraud trimmer is what you want. It's expensive, but also the best.

The most accurate trimmer out there is likely the Wilson. And it doesn't cost all that much.

I'v got the Wilson,its the best and fastest I'v tried for rifle cases but its a PITA! for pistol. The cases need to be pressed into the holder with an arbor press or tapped in and out with a dowel and mallet. This is with their regular case holders,I'm not sure about their Q type. If I need to trim any handgun cases I use the Lee cutter and stud.

I use a Lee Hand Trimmer ($4 for the cutter and $3 per caliber for different mandrels) chucked into my 1/2" drill press (Sears--$109). It makes quick work of trimming and is very consistant ( under 0.001" variation). The hand trimmer works with a regular drill or a cordless screwdriver also.

I had my Forster trimmer set up with a power screwdriver for a long time, but now use a Sinclair case spinner on the screwdriver and a Possum Hollow trimmer from Sinclair. works really well.

It trims and chamfers the inner and outer edges of the case mouth in one operation.

It works with .50BMG also.

I use a Lee power trimmer I got from Midway. It works well enough for me.

I just ream my chamber a little deeper as the cases stretch.

Zak - Nice trimmer you got there. Looks just like mine! That was probably the single best piece of equipment advice I've gotten off this board. It's pricey, but I can have my 6 year-old son trim 100 shells in about 15 minutes.
