Holiday season is here, and Package Thieves are taking them right off the Porch. .
They have 12 gauge blanks that go off when you take a fake package. .
I am wondering if anyone thought of using it as a Perimeter alarm as well.

I had 2 packages stolen, when I lived on the outskirts of Atlanta a couple of years ago. I know it's frustrating, but the potential liabilities far outweigh any perceived benefits to this booby trap.

Even if it was a good idea, it wouldn't be appropriate for the NON-firearm weapons forum.

Best case is you scare the thief into a dirty pair of underwear and you get a good chuckle out of it. Worst case scenario the booby trap is more effective than expected and kills the guy, or makes him have a heart attack and die. So let’s weigh out this gamble, one side is for giggles, and the other side is for a grave. No brainer. Even if things went well you would be up to your eyeballs in legal trouble and/or a lawsuit.

I’m not advising you to or to not, but it certainly won’t kill the guy. There’s nowhere to build pressure. It will make a bang and I suspect most of the shot will be less than two meters in front of it. Still, a home security is a better bet

I'd go for a "Smile for the Camera" sign first. The camera's optional.

BINGO!

Cameras are cheap and posting a warning even cheaper. Add a solar powered moton sensor light and you have more advantages than any primate perimeter tripwire.

This one's closed as being too far afield for NFW.
