I'm looking to get a holster for a '58 Pietta and I've concluded I don't want a slim jim holster or a flap holster. That's brought me to asking about a Triple K holster that has a strap that retains the gun. Is this the only option available to me?

I bought the Triple K Hickok holster for my 1858 Remington, I like the cross draw with no retention strap.

no its your only option for a holster. there are more then a few folks out there making c&b holsters, but i carry my '60 in that same triple k holster around the farm and its been nothing but awsome the only thing i did to mine was put a piece of latigo cord loop on the lower strap and hooked it over the hammer

to be honest at its price point its a steal, not fancy but hard working holster in a tested setup

It's a single action, do you really feel the need to add a strap on the hammer?

The strap is to keep it from falling out. Happens more than you'd think especially pulling the holster off the belt when the gun is in place.

This guy makes a nice holster for Remingtons with several to chose from with very good pricing if you can convert from Zlotny. Made my brother a holster last year and did great work.

Larry Sullivan made me a beautifull slim jim but he does other styles as well.

well a year or so ago i was cutting up a large apple tree that had came down in a storm when the inside of my arm was scraped by something sharp i looked down to find my revolver straped in its holster .....FULLY COCKED:eek:. well knocking around in all that brush manged to catch the hammer and put it into battery without me knowing, from then on i used a hammer thong

Yikes! Hillbilly Matt - that would make me go to a flap. Glad you weren't hurt.

I have the Triple-K holsters for my Pietta Colt clones, and they are good holsters. But, the securing strap does make quick drawing more difficult. I need retention more the QD, so it's not a problem.

Good morning,
Those are all good lookin', tough holsters. I recently had a cross draw made for my LeMat that let it ride to the left of my belt buckle ala 'Quick and the Dead' style. It's a heavy revolver so it soon rode on a second wider belt that buckled on free of belt loops. All of my 'belt' revolvers, including the saddle pistols use this set up now. The point of my ramble is that if you are having a nice holster made up, get the belt made at the same time. Saves matching leather later on.
regards all!

There's a guy on eBay who sells triple-k cosmetic seconds at a nice discount. I have three of them and they are an excellent value, the imperfections are small enough that I neither notice or care. Search eBay for triple-k and you'll find him.

Thanks for the input gentlemen, I appreciate it.

Does anyone know if there are shoulder holsters available?

That's a good looking shoulder rig. It's better than one made by my classmate, 25schaefer, who used cardboard, brown duct tape and a borrowed trouser belt. The way his Colt Walker sat in that holster was very high and practically beneath his armpit. A former classmate, nicknamed Stetson, told us it was the most natural carry ever. Anyway, 25schaefer wore a borrowed a stetson hat that was too small for him when he pulled that stunt. Our teacher saw it and said, "If you aren't embarrassed for yourself, I am." We all had a good laugh at Stetson's expense.

the tripple k holsters are not fully fit. You have to wrap the gun in plastic, cover it in leather soap, and stuff it in there for a while. Its sounds like a pain, but it really fits nice. while the strap will retain, the leather will hold it too. also, in the longer barrels its unlikely to fall out anyway. i wouldent worry. Having to force fit the leather really is better than one size fits many kind of.

I a happy with the triple K I have for my 1858. I didn't want to invest too much into blackpowder and it was reasonably priced. It was tight when I got it but I managed to stretch the retention strap enough to fit. After a week, it fit just right.
