On Saturday I went to the range to check my Hawken’s sights. They were badly off, since the rifle had not been shot in several years. I got in a hurry trying to beat the next “ceasefire” to change targets and launched a ramrod down range. 20 years of shooting a Hawken and found a new way to screw up! The hell of it was, the ramrod shot more accurately than the dang round balls!

I found a replacement ramrod in a local gunshop, back to the range today. Got the sight regulated, 3 inches high at 50 yards (thank you Paul Harm) but while seating a ball with the new ramrod felt a “pop” in my right elbow. I sprained a triceps tendon on the point of my elbow. I‘m functional but dang it is sore!

Im hoping all the bad stuff is out of the way and next week’s muzzleloader season will be uneventful.

Blackpowder is not for sissies!

My old shooting buddy and i were at a match when i got the bright idea to post our targets eith these fancy thumbtacks instead of staples.

Were were four shots into a match when the top two tacks came out of his target and it flopped over leaving the target hidden. Only the back of the paper was visible. He aimed blindly at thr backwards target using his previous holes as reference. He wound up with a good target.
No more tacks though!

in a thread months ago, (sorry don't remember witch one) my dads friend forgot his ramrod when we were hunting, only time i have see a ramrod kill a deer. hope your are gets better.
