Forwarded from Craig Buchanan:

Hello All, Well it's finally happening, Tucson Trap & Skeet / Coyote Springs is facing a threat of encroachment from a developer. The land at the east end of the range has been purchased for development and the owners are currently attempting to get the property re-zoned for residential housing. If this were to happen it would be the beginning of the end for the range. We can't allow that to happen.

We do have at least one factor in our favor with Ryan Field (airport to the west of the range) looking to expand and the land in question would probably be negatively impacted by that expansion and the alteration of flight paths. We can't, however, rely on that to resolve the issue in our favor. We need to take a stand. We need to let the Pima County Board of Supervisors know that we want and NEED that range to remain as a valuable part of the Tucson community.

Tim Miles asked that I pass this information along to our Sporting Clays shooters. It is also going out to the Trap & Skeet shooting communities. What we're asking is that you please take a moment to e-mail the members of the Board just to let them know that it is important that the range be protected. Having a safe, supervised place for the shotgun shooters of Tucson and the surrounding communities to participate in their sport is vital to the area. Let's face it, people are going to shoot. Where they shoot and under what conditions they shoot is up to the board.

This is a time sensitive issue. The Board is meeting this coming Tuesday, April 3, 2007 so please try to get the e-mails out this weekend so they will be able to read them on Monday.

Here are the people to whom the e-mails should be sent.

Chairman Richard Elias / [email protected]

Supervisor Sharon Bronson / [email protected]

County Administrator Chuck Huckelberry / [email protected]

Thank you for your help,

Craig Buchanan
