Tumbler questions

I use a vibratory tumbler with bulk corncob media, since I load on a progressive I do not deprime before I clean so the primer pockets don't get cleaned nor do they need it for pistol rounds.
I put a little mineral spirits in each load which shines the cases nicely tumble for about 3 hours and they are shiney and clean. This includes .45 acp brass that has been reloaded over 10x by me. Corncob is simpler and works well, no desire to do any wet tumbling. The concern I have is with the steel pins if you miss one and it stays in the case it could cause serious problems.

Yes, but what does the dirt and grit do to the dies?
I reloaded 12 years before I tumbled any brass. I just wiped my cases with a solvent dampened rag as I inspected them. No, no scratched dies or chambers, and yes I could spot all defects...
