I really don't pay attention because I've been shooting LAs so long it's just automatic. But I believe I do go down past half cock and bring it back with my finger off the trigger so i'm sure it engages all the way. If you ride the trigger down and it doesn't snap all the way in you won't have full engagement of the half cock. I'll have to try it with a couple when I get home.

I pull the trigger, barely let the hammer down. Let go of the trigger, then pay attention as it falls on the half cock notch. I then pull the hammer back a bit to be sure and once again, ease it back onto the half cock notch.

I like to go all the way down, then back to half cock like in the video. That reduces the possibility of leaving it down and can be done 100% by feel without having to look at the hammer. Not that I have a problem with it being done the other way. That's just the habit I've formed.
