Oddball here
Im going to be the oddball in the bunch. I tried a few of powders at a few different charge weights in the wifes .243 Savage when I was trying to work up a load using 100 gn Sierra GK.
I had almost accepted defeat after trying 3 different powders when I looked up at my pound of H1000 on the shelf and said heck, why not. Much to my surprise it shot 1/2 MOA out to 200 yds with a charge near the listed max on Hodgdons website.
I will say there was no Varget in my area, so I have no experience with it, but hear good things. By some chance though if you are like me and have a pound of H1000 laying around for you magnum cartridges, dont look past it.
Also, I really like Sierra GK for the .243 deer load, its hard to beat the priceerformace ratio on sierra. Then Nosler Balistic Tip or Hornady V-Max for a 'yote load.
