Two great acquisitions by one very thoughtful and generous daughter!

Merry Christmas to you both, even if it is a bit early!

Stopped off with son-in-law at a gunshop on the way home from the Browning museum a couple days ago.
My first introduction to a live takedown demonstration of a MKIV Ruger .22.

It nearly brought tears to my eyes, those things come apart so EASY!
My MKIII 22/45 is my only .22 autopistol, and I like it for gophers in the back yard with a suppressor.

I hate breaking those older Rugers down SOOOOO much I've actually never done it on this one in the four or five years I've had it.

Very tempting to go for a newer MKIV.
VERY.

Never tempt fate. JUST GIVE IN....I've got the Mk IV hunter, and I've been eyeing up the Target as well....

Yeah..………..but it's truly reached the point where another gun is contra-indicated. :)
I'd have to sell the one I have.
Which means I'd have to CLEAN it.
Which means I'd have to put it back together again.....

The MKIV Tactical with threaded barrel is now haunting me.
Asked a friend at Ruger today if those oogly rails come off easily & if they have any plug screws to fill the holes.
He's sending plug screws & I didn't even ask FOR 'em, just ABOUT 'em.
Is this an omen?
Denis

If i was one who shot 1000's of rounds a month and had to break one down for cleaning often I guess the MKIV would appeal to me. That said I shoot 200 300 rounds when i go out and a barrel wipe inside and out pus a spray of the action with some scrubber and a little lube, she's good to go for the next time. I break it down once a year maybe and it is not that big of a a deal but I do see the appeal for many. You just have to remember to PULL THE TRIGGER and decock it. Be aware of the hammer strut and where it goes for reassembly and anyone can pretty much get r dun. I hope your Mark IV's are every bit as reliable and accurate as my MK III Target is. It has been a heck of a pistol for the money.

It's that blasted hammer strut that gives me fits on reassembly.
Denis

Yep- no strut messing.
That's the whole point of getting the MKIV. :)
I may end up squirting some Gun Scrubber in my older 22/45 & selling it to buy a new one.
