Type 03 FFL

Has anybody applied for a new (not renewal) Type 03 FFL recently (within the last year)? I sent my application in a couple of weeks ago and I was just wondering what the wait was like. ATF charged my CC yesterday, but I don’t know if that means anything about approval and delivery.

I think the new apps take longer that the renewals. I know the ATF , like all other gov. agencies, cashes checks or credit card #s first, and sorts things out later. I wouldn't fret too much about that two weeks delay. I got mine decades ago, and I really don't remember how long the original processing was. I do know that renewals, at least for me, never took more than a couple of weeks. This may not be popular to say, but I have no beef with the ATF people. They have always been helpful and courteous to me. I do not hold the same view for the IRS.

Thanks, @tark . I’m not “fretting” - just curious. I just happen to run across three good C&R deals this week…and it would be nice not to have to pay my 01FFL extra (Although he’s a nice guy, so I don’t mind so much.) I just have to pace myself!

So the answer is: 1 month. I received my Type 003 license today!

New question: What do people put in the "Position/Title" block on the license? I got the license in my own name not as a business 9since it's a type 03), so "Owner" doesn't seem appropriate.

I recall seeing that question on the application, but not on the license itself. The only writing I have ever done on my license is to sign my name. I am waiting on my renewal right now, perhaps things have changed. Haven't actually looked at the thing in years. I just leave copies with the places where I do business.

Doesn’t really matter much since you already have the license. I would guess collector would be okay.

Got my renewal today.. Barely two weeks.! I see that there is a line on the license for Position / Title. I've never noticed it before. I would just put "collector."
