Hi i am thinking about reloading for a .308. I was wondering what economical brass you guys would suggest. Also will different kinds of brass change the accuracy of the round? Thanks
If you are shooting a bench rest target rifle...yes. Your average hunting rifle wiold probably not see much difference unless you mix brands of bullets, especially commercial and GI cases. It is usually best to pick one brand case and stick wth that.
I have found the more expensive brass, such as Lapua, requires less initial preparation than common brass and is more consistent. Preparation means, deburring flash holes, trimming etc. Consistency is what makes accuracy. I think you'll also learn that expensive brass lasts longer (more firings). The end result is that it may not be more expensive when all things are considered.
High end brass does not come in all calibers, you're fortunate to be able to buy it for your 308 caliber. I would take advantage of that good fortune.
Since I have been using Lapua brass in my .223 target rifle, I have noticed improved accuracy. Am I shooting a little better because I no longer worry about consistency in my brass? Perhaps. I won't argue with the results.
