To all:

I have a new Uberti Whitneyville Hartford Dragoon and am contemplating ordering parts from either Taylor's or VTI to create an Uberti Walker as a parts swap. I have priced out all of the parts from both outfits and am convinced that I would be better off just buying new Uberti Walker for the price point.

My main question concerns the arbor (cylinder pin). Taylor's specifies different part numbers for the Dragoon arbor and the Walker arbor. VTI shows yet a different one.

How much different are the two? This is my first venture into this realm as I primarily have many Pietta 1851 Navy "type" pistols, which are like Legos insofar as parts exchanging.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Jim

I don't have exact measurements at hand but the Walker cylinder is larger/longer than the dragoon so there isn't going to be a Lego type fit between them.

Malachi:

I understand that (it is about 1/4" longer than the Dragoon cylinder) but the Walker barrel forcing cone is that much shorter than the Dragoon barrel. Same frame. My main question is about the arbor.

The arbor for each revolver is a different length. Making a "convertible" would be "work intensive"! Though the frames are the same, the arbor length (thus the wedge slot location) is different.
Sorry about that.

Mike,

No need to be sorry about supplying correct info. That's all I was looking for! It was just a pipe dream and now it is not. Now I can free my mind and go on to the next "what if?".

Thanks so much for your post, sir!

Regards,

Jim

Jim, you are most welcome! I was thinking that I may have brought the "sharing of frames' thing up in another thread but didn't mean you could swap barrels and such . . .
