John Kerry still says nothing in the treaty will infringe on our Second Amendment rights:

"Nothing in this treaty could ever infringe on the rights of American citizens under our domestic law or the Constitution, including the Second Amendment," he added, referring to the U.S. constitutional amendment that guarantees the right to bear arms.

Folks, if you have never contacted your legislators at ALL levels, especially in DC, it is time to do so. We need to bring a concerted wave of pressure on them to keep them from ratifying this treaty when it eventually reaches Congress. You can be sure that Obama, Kerry, Biden, and a whole lot of other antis are going to do their dead-level best to get this passed. We cannot allow this to happen.

This from the self-described deer hunter (John Kerry on how he hunts deer: "I crawl around on my stomach. I track and move and decoy and play games and try to outsmart them. You know, you kind of play the wind"...) who conflates hunting and the right to keep an bear arms under the 2A.

Yeah, the UN doesn't really want to regulate arms in the US.

Riiiiiiiiiiiight.

Emails going out tonight. Phone calls tomorrow. :fire:

isn't this treaty illegal under the U.S. Constitution?

p.s. yes i am aware of current admin un-Constitutional activities.

No, the treaty itself is not illegal, nor would it be if ratified. If you have not read the treaty draft, you should do so. It requires very little of party states but "encourages" a lot. Some of the things party states are encouraged to do quite probably would be illegal or unconstitutional, but no party state is actually required to do everything that is encouraged.

Oh, and you only need to contact your 2 US Senators. They are the only ones who have a say in ratification. Contacting everyone at all levels is overdoing it just a bit.

If they hadn't amended the Constitution to allow the popular election of Senators, you could write your state legislators which is who the Senators were originally intended to represent. Technically, they still do but the legislature very has little leverage.
