I would like to undercut my trigger guard on my 1911 and was wanting to know what the radius of the factory undercut is?(shown in attached pic.) Or would anyone mind putting a wooden dowel or socket in the cut and tell me what the Dia. is. This would let me know what sanding drum to use.

Thanks for any help.

PS. Zeke... I hope you dont mind me borrowing part of your pic.

Well, since it's going to be a custom job anyway, why don't you work out the diameter/contour of your finger that is going to be tucked up in there and try to find something that will fit your finger more exacatly. Just a thought.

If you're trying to match factory appearance it looks to me like the radius is slightly tighter than the finger grooves and the trigger. 1 1/4" as a guess but I don't have one I can measure.

Radius guages are inexpensive and relatively easy to come by. Try an automotive shop or a machinist supply place. Plan 'B' is to trace the radius you have onto paper and complete the circle using a compass. The point end and pencil type.

The problem is I don't have one to measure. I was hoping someone here would slip a wooden dowel or a socket in the undercut and tell me what the dia. is. The measurement does not need to be that precise just 3/4", 5/8" or something along that line.:)

Thanks
