If you find out, let me know. I have one with condensate inside as a result of a house fire. It is not burnt or rusted but the image is poor.

I will give Parsons Scope Service another try.
Gil Parsons passed away but his son is keeping the shop.
I did not get a reply to an email but will try again now we are past the National Matches.

Jim I just talk to a guy close to me that buys and sells older scopes. He mentioned Parsons as you did and Iron Sights in Tulsa, OK. Also a Arron Davis(sp) but no info. He also has a number of a person that could mabye date the scope for me anyway. Sounds like no fast turn around but I'm not in a hurry. Any new info I'll pass it along.

what would you do?

Having had correspondence with 2 of the 3 people mentioned in my post I would like your advice. Both say 6-8 months turn around time, one is 95.00 for the basic inspect, clean and adjust,no estimate from the other and no reply from the third. I have no problem spending a reasonable dollar amount on this service by knowledgeable people but 6-8 months! I could have another grand child by then. Thanks deadeye

Hey, it is what it is.

There are very few people left in the world with the knowledge, parts, or tools to work on them.

If you want it fixed, but especially fixed right, you just have to get in line.

Hey, it is what it is.

Sorry RC but I can't agree with you. Say on Monday your truck/family van breaks down, towed to local dealership and told they will try to have it ready in 6-8 months. Being in the auto service industry if you have excess demand of services by your customers than you can provide, you should hire and train additional employees to fill there needs in a timely fashion.

Yes, but just about everyone has a vehicle of some type, not everyone has a Unertl scope.

For many specialty trades, waiting a few months is quite normal. Try to buy a custom or even semi custom 1911, from someone like Ed Brown, and see how long it takes for it to arive.

A few months would be completely acceptable,a possible 8 months puts me past the shooting time in northern MN. Yes there may be the chance of a faster service time but at this time I'll wait till spring and see if the spots in the objective affect the sight picture. Thanks all. deadeye

I found this old info on Aaron Davis.

2009
·There is now a small operation in Fairborn, OH 45324 (1209 E Dayton Yellow Springs Rd.). Aaron Davis, a long-term Unertl employee, staffs it. Aaron repairs and reconditions externally adjustable Unertl scopes. He can be reached at 937-631-2854 or via email at [email protected]. Some parts are also available for sale. If you need parts and or repairs, this is the Unertl guy you need to contact.

I talked to someone on the phone at Parsons. He wouldn't give a estimate until they inspected it. There 6-8 months out, he said maybe less on the service needed. E-mailed Ironsights they replyed $95.00 for the basic service and also 6-8 months out. E-mailed Arron Davis no reply. Maybe I'll give him a call today. If I decide to sent I'm leaning towards Ironsights. Thanks for the info. deadeye

edit Called the Arron Davis number and it is still good. The message he has on the phone is that he is shut down till may 1.

Talked to a JB at Quality Scope and he is about 45 day turn around and reasonable price. He thinks my concerns on the objective are common and should not affect sight picture unless really bad. Something to do with the glue between the lens. Well I will wait and see. Thanks all. deadeye

Just an update

I sent my scope to Parsons in Ohio mid Feb and received it back last week. A good tune up, cleaning and adjustments. When you can get them on the phone they are very accommodating. Service, cost of repair and turn aroud time were great. Still a little haze on the objective but I talk to the person working on it and said it won't be a issue except under under low light conditions. At the range this tuesday so will see. deadeye

edit what the heck is the spring for?????

Had the scope out today on the 6MM and finally got descent groups at 50 yards. Does any one know of a link to download a instruction manual? thanks. deadeye
