IMG_1855 (2).JPG Anyone here have any experience with these grips? I've got a Model 15-2 I want to put these on. From the pictures they look like true walnut not laminated and will need sanding and some additional shaping. I leaning towards the Tung oil followed by wax as mentioned here in a recent thread. With original magna grips the trigger guard smacks my middle finger knuckle. I have big hands and the targets will give me a better grip. I'll save the originals since they number to the gun. I've read the Altamont fit well but they have glued plastic medallions. These are not being sold by Altamont but seller lists them as being manufactured by Altamont. I wonder if they're seconds that didn't make the "cut."

Probably your best bet is to come up with some original alternate replacement for the medallions. The shaping you want to do might adversely affect their fit anyway. Something in silver, maybe? Polished precious stone inlay?

Those are good ideas I'll give some thought to as I'm waiting a few days for the Watco Danish oil to cure/dry fully. I tried them for fit on my Model 15 and they fit perfectly. These were my first attempt at a refinishing so I tried to keep it simple and take the easy way out with the Watco. I didn't want high gloss anyway. I'm surprised they cheaped out on plastic medallions on an otherwise nice Walnut grip. These were sold as Altamont manufacture. Did at some point Altamont make solid Walnut grips as opposed to the new laminated versions? In any event I think these will be good for comfort at the range vs the original magnas. My Altamont grips are solid; not laminated. In addition, they're stamped on the inner face with the grip model and the company logo. You're sure you've got genuine grips?

I wouldn't bet on it. Each does have a big "K" cut into the backside.
