Im attempting bring a Unique Model 17 back from the deal. All I lack is the safety and asociated hardware. Anyone know where those parts might be found? I have struck out in all the usual gun parts suppliers. Wondering if there might be a part from a similar pistol I could substitute also.

Thanks.

Unique is the manufacturer name.

OP, check out numrich again, but this time look at some of the other Unique models that are offered. I looked at the model 14 (.25acp i think) and they had a safety for models 10,11,12,13, and 14. So I ASSUME all those models use the same one. I further ASSUME there is another larger safety that would apply to the 17 and other models also but my basis for comparison is admittedly pretty crude.

You may find a safety for the unique corsair/escort/model L might fit but you’d need to talk to numrich to be sure.

Also call and ask: http://www.gun-parts.com/unique/

I too was confused as to whether this thread referred to a "unique" version of a Glock Model 17 (this is the semi forum after all), but thanks to the OP's correct capitalization and the incongruous difficulty finding Glock parts I realized it was something I'd never heard of...

So if you're like me and you're curious what exactly a Unique Model 17 is here's an article talking about the gun with some more nice pictures. http://greyarsenal.com/unique-model-17-7-65-court-9-coups-field-strip/

Maybe try Bob's Gun Parts (gun-parts.com), as he lists quite a few parts for Unique pistols.

I have one, and agree they are very close to a Ruby pistol, IMO both were substandard quality, but Unique went on later to make many nice pistols, Rubies died out in the 20's I think.

I dunno, my Dads Ruby is quite well made, but its a Llama produced gun, some of the other Ruby contractors were much shadier.

The Uniqes made during the WW2 German occupation are pretty rough too.

I couldn't find any ads which had Unique pistols for sale but I did come across some other ones from the mid to late '50s and early '60s that I thought you might enjoy (along with the "bargain" prices they had back then)!

Now if only I could get my time machine working!

As I was looking through these old gun ads it was kind of interesting that quite a few of these dealers were located in New York and California!

I guess times have changed over the past 60 years or so...

I’d love to know how old that Browning ad is! - LOL

Found that ad in an issue of Guns and Ammo magazine, October 1959.

In 1976 my brother paid $272 for a new Browning Hi-Power!

And the Baby Browning "ultra-light weight model-7 3/4 oz. with chrome finish, pearl grips, and gold plated trigger -$42.50" cost me $399, like new in the box, back in 2010!
