USA TODAY: Feds issue 4,000 orders to seize guns from people who failed background checks

Judging by gun owners I know, at least 500 of those 4000 guns have been sold or traded off already. A lot of people keep a gun until the new wears off, then they trade it in for something else.

I'd also expect some number of "tragic boating accidents" as well.

Every time I buy a gun I get a "Delay" on the NICS check. This has been going on for years now. It usually comes back with a "Proceed" after a couple days but not always. I don't know if this is because of stupidity, ineptness or the fact that I have a very common last name. I think Jim hit the nail on the head.

And I suspect that this is just the government's way of forcing a waiting period upon us.

Had the same problem as tark. Bad guy with same name lived in same county. Never got denied but had to wait 3 days each and every time. Got my ccl, now I lay my card on the table fill out one sheet and out the door with whatever I want in 15 minutes

That's because your state has passed a law that allows your carry permit to qualify as a NICS alternative. Feds have no problem with it. That's the way it should be.

Any state can do that, some choose not to. In my state it's a pass only for a handgun.
