We have nothing else, and just brought home an original WW2 Mauser Hsc handgun, with grips which are good but resemble dry chocolate cookies.
A small slice of wood is missing from the rearmost edge of one of the grips. Though it might have been due to an impact, need to prevent more of that, as these grips seem to be original.
Is this compound only a type of wax which adds shine to wood's exterior? This might alter the original appearance.
We have no products which other people often discuss, such as linseed oil, Tru-oil etc, but a woodworking shop is nearby.
