Hi,
I have a RCBS primer pocket swager for mil brass and it is not the best tool out there. (Im gonna get a Dillon one of these days)

I was thinking about it and although Ive always used the tool dry, it might work better with a little lube in the pocket before swaging. (applied with a ear swab)

Can anyone think of a reason NOT to lube before swaging? Can it oversize the pocket?

I plan on retumbleing the brass after to remove the lube.

No.

You are moving brass.

I have always used case lube when swaging primer pockets.

It makes swaging much easier.
And it makes pulling the case back off the swaging punch a whole lot easier.

The only thing I can think in using lube for this, is make sure you clean them well afterward. I will sometimes use lube myself if i'm doing a bunch of them, and it does help in the process. But when I'm done, I wipe them out with a Q tip and alcohol. It just takes a few seconds to wipe one, which helps me feed my OCD monkey.:fire:
