Howdy gents-

Stopped by the local shop today to look at a couple of things, and found a (gently) used XD9 4" for $400. I don't know if it has the 'package' but I doubt it. Anyone know if that sounds like a decent deal?

Been looking for another CC piece, and something to bum around the woods with.

Also, I've always read pretty good things about the XD's, so I'm not too concerned about the quality, but was wondering how most folks felt they handled. I've not had a chance to shoot one. It seems like the bore axis is pretty high, is this a nuisance when rapid firing? Or is there negligible difference in the type of recoil?

Anyone rotate between a 1911 and an XD for carry?

(They also has a S&W AR for $800 after rebate, which was tempting... )

Thanks for your thoughts-

Spooky

Yep, it does. I picked up a "gently used" XD40 Christmas of a couple years ago, for $380 (the price they had on it, I actually traded a couple unloved lesser guns for it).

Last gun show I was at, new XD's were at parity price wise with equivalent Glocks.

YOu can buy a brand new in the box XD-9 at Budsgushop for $463 SHIPPED....why would you buy used when you can get a virgin for the cost of a few (not very many) boxes of ammo??

I actually live pretty close to Buds gun shop, and when I went I was deeply underwhelmed by both the service and the selection. Of course, I believe the store front is different than what's online, but that's another story.

I would similarly check CDNN, but FFL fees eat me up.

I believe I will check out Sportsmans Warehouse this week and see what their prices look like.

They're $419 at CDNN. I was looking to buy one off my Buddy's father but he was asking $400 and the shop offered him that(but that had to have only been because he was buying a new RRA AR, Aimpoint, and Kahr PM40 the same day) so I told him to sell it and if I really want one I'll buy a new one for 420 plus transfer.

I just bought my first gun from Buds...for all the good I heard, I wasn't really that impressed and I can *usually* find lower prices unless they've got really good specials going. I have bought two or three things from CDNN and recommend them up and down. Usually it all shipped the same day with 0 hiccups. I can't say the same about Buds.

Spend the extra thirty bucks and get a NEW one. There have been several changes to the XD. The older guns are just not as good as the new production guns. The new melonite finish will greatly reduce the likelihood of rusting. They also went from a two piece barrel to a one piece. Also the extractors have been improved.

I bought the XD9 subcompact with night sites, 3-10 round mags, 2 16 round mags, holster, and 2 mag holder for $600 out the door.Loved the way it shoots, only problem my wife liked it too now it's hers.

Can someone explain this one further? I have an XD9 and am not sure what this is referring to....thanks.
