Using th SIRT system for training

This is the relatively new laser pistol system. I purchased two of them , one red laser the other green laser. We found the red laser gun was perfect for giving basic training in safety and handgun handling inside a classroom. The ILEETA conference had training for Chicago area LEO's in the SIRT system and a friend of mine attended the classes. He came back excited and he put me through the drills, I used them outdoors using the green laser, WOW, this gun IS an ammunition saver, it allows many handgun drills to be done absolutely safely until the basic drill is learned, then switch to a loaded handgun. I found that the skills being taught are learned very quickly. Here is a student using the green laser in a drill where he is shooting from 10 meters.

Question--how does one change the battery???

"Slide" cover comes off with removal of 3 pins (you can use the same punch you'd use on a glock for removing the frame from the grip) and it's a single cr123a held in by tension. Pop it out and replace then put the slide back in and push the pins back in. Takes 2 minutes.

However I've really never needed to change the battery in over a year (had a warranty replacement about a year ago and had only owned the SIRT 4-5 months at the time).

I haven't had to replace the battery on either the Red or Green laser, have had the Red laser gun for over a year with mucho usage.

I have a red laser one and find it quite useful for practice around the house. Drawing, shooting, pieing, etc. Nice complement to classes.

I wish to add that when I bought one and told my Sig. Other that it was a laser pistol, she thought for a second that I would be burning holes in the house. Told her it was just a laser pointed in a gun shape. That was OK.

When is the lethal laser Glock coming out by the way? After the carbine?
