I recently started doing video breakdowns for students of mine. In the most recent one I compared one of my runs to a students and tried to break down where he was losing time. He was amazed to see how much time he was losing in between the targets

I use the Clip Shot app on an iPad Pro to break down the shot times you see on the right.

Here's a youtube playlist of the breakdowns from our group classes

This is awesome! The analysis is really valuable to me as a new shooter to IDPA and USPSA. I haven't developed the skills yet to efficiently navigate a stage and place my rounds so I minimize my points down. Ha, I'd be 30 seconds behind both of you.

That was very interesting.

If you were closer, I'd be looking at taking a class... I've been guilty of most of those errors at one time or another

My stage planning has gotten better over time, but it is always great to put another critical eye on it

Usually that means you didn't memorize your plan well enough
Took me bit to realize that, but it is really true.

I used to wonder why folks spent so much time after walking through the stage the first time...now, I'm that guy who wants his whole 5 mins

Yep.

The planning/visualization/memorization is a skill all to itself.
Even on short or easy stages, the more comfortable you are with your plan, and the more you visualize yourself doing it well, the better you will do.
