IMPORTANT REQUEST: We need 10,000 patriots to fill the Capitol grounds for Monday's rally!

Unfortunately, the Virginia Supreme Court just said they did not have enough information on the stay denied by the lower court to issue their own stay, so the Governor's illegal gun-ban on Capitol grounds is going to stand for this event.

Here is what we need to do on Monday to make the rally a success:

DETAILS:
  1. VCDL needs at least 10,000 members/gun owners to commit to "taking one for the team'" by entering the Capitol grounds unarmed around 10 am and being in place for the rally by 10:45 am. Those who were lobbying will already be unarmed, so we urge them to be part of the 10,000 inside the fencing. NOTE: knives with folding metal blades less than 3-inches long are ARE permitted both in the General Assembly AND on the Capitol grounds.
  2. For every one gun owner on the Capitol grounds, we need another two to five people outside the Capitol grounds's fence on 9th Street. Those doing so can be legally armed.
If you can commit to being one of our needed 10,000 unarmed members inside the fence, please help us by asking several of your family and friends to be your designated armed escort to the gates and to stand outside the fenced area to watch over us.

WHY:

We are separating our responsibilities, in this otherwise untenable and unconstitutional situation foisted on gun owners by Northam. Gun owners standing, both inside and outside of the fence, ensure that the Capitol grounds and the surrounding area is filled to capacity to hear our speakers and it will make a great visual for the cameras!

For those who are going to be on the Capitol grounds, the less items you bring along, the quicker and more efficient the screening.

VCDL will have loudspeakers so that those outside the fence will be able to hear. The event will also be broadcast live on WRVA radio, 1140 AM /96.1 FM.

IMPORTANT:

We ask everyone to follow the temporary Capitol grounds rules. There is NO need for an act of civil disobedience to achieve standing for a court fight. We already have standing.

We still will have our day in court to fully debate the governor's unconstitutional overreach in just a few short weeks.

Thank you very much for your support and understanding. The Governor and his cronies would like nothing better than to see the Capitol grounds empty, with the speakers talking only to themselves. We simply cannot let that happen.

PLEASE CHOOSE ONE:

  • Arrive temporarily UNARMED and go INSIDE the fenced area on the Capitol grounds or
  • Stand with us, LEGALLY ARMED if you so choose, just OUTSIDE the fence and watch over your brothers and sisters inside the fence
Either way, we'll see you there!

FINAL NOTE:

Monday is going to be a day of lobbying, with a peaceful rally. All law-abiding citizens are invited. The Capitol, State, and Richmond police forces will be providing strong security. We thank them in advance for helping make sue that the event is a safe and fun event.

Much as I hate the idea, I am all in with this. I will be leaving my "dangerous weapons" home, and seeking assylum in the "emergency shelter".

This is sad. I'm a VCDL member and I see this as a show of compliance, which is NOT what's needed.

Shooting in the streets is also not what's wanted but folks with guns ARE needed to show what might ultimately might happen.

The 2A was put in place for this very reason. No need to walk on eggs at this point.

What's needed is a legitimate SHOW of force.

What's needed is a legitimate SHOW of force.

Since you've said repeatedly that you're not bothering to show up at all in your own state for fear of what might happen I doubt the above advice is useful at this time.

Remember that the 2A is for when all other political means have failed instead of at the first sign of opposition to the principals. Plenty of time after the votes and courts have had their day instead of before for such bluster and bleating hiding behind those who are willing to show up.

Strange allies.

One less monster under the bed. The enemies of our enemy are our ... allies?
When gun lovers rally in front of the Virginia Capitol in Richmond next week, the local chapter of antifa will be there too. But their members won’t be wearing all black, and they don’t plan to douse right-wingers in milkshakes or Silly String.

Instead, local antifa will join thousands of conservatives who are expected to descend on Richmond that day in protesting pending gun-control legislation introduced by Democratic lawmakers.

Antifa Seven Hills, based in Richmond, are opposing the slew of gun bills introduced by the newly Democratic Legislature since November, because they say those types of laws are used primarily to criminalize poor people, minorities, and leftists — and to bolster law enforcement’s power.

“I think it’s been pretty important for us to focus on the fact that gun control in America has a legacy of racist enforcement,” said Antifa Seven Hills spokesperson James (who asked that his name be withheld to avoid getting doxxed online). “Like taking guns away from black people, because black people were perceived as a threat to property and the sanctity of the state.”

The Virginia House Republican leader said anyone spreading "white supremacist garbage" is not welcome in Richmond after a state of emergency was declared because of threats surrounding a gun rights rally planned for Monday.
"Any group that comes to Richmond to spread white supremacist garbage, or any other form of hate, violence, or civil unrest isn't welcome here," Todd Gilbert said Saturday in a statement.
Federal authorities arrested a number of suspected neo-Nazis around the country this week out of concern that they were planning violent acts at Monday's gun rights rally in Richmond, a senior FBI official said Friday. Seven men accused of belonging to a white supremacist group called The Base were arrested this week in separate raids in Delaware, Georgia, Maryland and Wisconsin, according to authorities.
"House Republicans reject any attempt by any group to infuse any kind of twisted or extreme worldview into this fundamentally democratic exercise," Gilbert's statement continued. "So there's no mistake, this is my message to any group that would subvert this event: you are not welcome here."
"While we and our Democratic colleagues may have differences, we are all Virginians and we will stand united in opposition to any threats of violence or civil unrest from any quarter," Gilbert said. Gilbert represents the 15th district in the Virginia House of Delegates.
Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam declared a state of emergency this week after law enforcement learned of the threats and that out-of-state militia groups and hate groups are expected to attend the rally on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Firearms and other weapons have been banned on state Capitol grounds.
There have been threats on law enforcement posted on their official social media sites in the last 24 hours, according to an official with the Virginia State Police. The threats have appeared on social media pages of the Richmond Police Department as well as the Virginia State Police.
The threats, which are considered credible by law enforcement, come from mainstream channels and alternative dark web ones used by violent groups and white nationalists from outside of Virginia, according to Northam. The governor added "the conversations are fueled by misinformation and conspiracy theories."
Northam said the state of emergency will be in place from Friday evening to Tuesday evening. The firearm ban includes open and concealed firearms and other weapons like sticks, bats and chains, according to the emergency declaration order.
A Richmond Circuit Court Judge denied the application for a temporary injunction of Northam's executive order banning guns at Monday's rally, which was filed by Gun Owners of America Inc., the Virginia Citizens Defense League, and three private individuals.

If Pink Pistols and Antifa are on the same side as we are can the Antis claim Lobby Day is just a bunch of redneck gun nuts?

I've said for years that the true Left is not against guns. The epicenter of the gun control movement is namby-pamby suburban Soccer Moms, who are somewhere in the middle on the political scale. It's a mistake to think that the gun issue is a matter of Right versus Left.

Sounds like way more than 10,000 people are going to show up.
I remember even during a fairly uneventful years 1,000 to 2,000 would show up on lobby day.

I agree that it's going to be more than 10,000. The question, though, is how many of these will be true gun rights supporters, and how many will be coming in order to further their own, perhaps unrelated, agendas. After a critical mass is achieved, things can get completely out of control.

The Virginia State Police and other law enforcement agencies have a very difficult and thankless task.
