VA Dems Drop AR-15 Confiscation After 1000s of NRA Members Show

Next Monday, 8:00AM, 1/20/20, is VCDL Lobby Day, at the Pocahontas Building, 900 East Main St., Richmond. Your attendance, for this peaceful gathering, would be appreciated. Virginia has now become the front line, in our struggle for the preservation of the Constitution.

Here’s my take on the situation

NRA was distracted by WLP being totally preoccupied with himself and fund raising. They ignored the situation while Wayne was trying on a new suit.
The VCDL organized around VA lobby day on the 20th. When Wayne suddenly realized another organization was actually being effective and becoming a threat to his donations he sprung into action and did something predictably self serving. He announced an event one week before VA lobby day, then claimed victory after having accomplished nothing.
Please urgently send money, or suits shirts ties or socks, directly to Wayne. We don’t have time for the NRA to process the donations. Gift certs for Botox or manicures also welcome. Please hurry. He’s the only one who can save us.

NRA ... ignored the situation while Wayne was trying on a new suit.
I was wondering where NRA was as situation in VA is history in the making for gun rights. Really, see next post.

NRA won't be the end all for our gun rights. (I am hoping the SCOTUS will voice in support of 2A)

ANY organization can grow and become a national voice for gun owners. Perhaps VA will also be history in the making for NRA's future.

This is a complete misreading of the situation. The antis are just consolidating behind HB 961, which is far worse than SB 16.
Support VCDL, vote out anti-gun law makers, sue anti-gun bills when they become laws, pray for judicial enforcement of the Constitution/BOR.

What happened on Monday in VA

And this posted on NRA-ILA website - https://www.nraila.org/articles/20200113/virginia-senate-judiciary-committee-passes-anti-gun-bills

"This is only the beginning of our fight to protect the Second Amendment in Richmond, so it is critical for NRA Members and Second Amendment supporters to remain active and vigilant this entire session. These ill-conceived bills could receive a vote on the Senate Floor very soon and with no warning!

Please contact your State Senator to OPPOSE Senate Bill 35, Senate Bill 69, Senate Bill 70, and Senate Bill 240. Standing together, we can turn the tide against the new anti-gun majority, but our resolve cannot waiver."

Once again, VA history making has started.

Time to choose sides. I stand with Virginians and gun owners. Donate money to VCDL now and save up more money to fund our legal battle when/if these bills become laws.

And we need to keep packing federal courts and SCOTUS with pro gun/2A judges.

Yeah, drop the one bill to back the one with more teeth--like registration (both weapons and owners). And making the not-grandfathered possession of a magazine >10 a felony.

And, while they are at it, straight 9 to 5 votes on every other issue they took up. To include allowing local governments to arbitrarily create "gun free zones" by fiat . (With a nifty feature that the local governments will have to pay for the security and sallyports themselves.)

Despite how WLP will spin it, this is not a victory.

Yup.

And every gun owner and future gun owners now must vote out anti gun law makers and vote in pro gun law makers on every election if they want to keep their guns.

Period.

Believe me, gun rights will be one of front and center issues for 2020 election debates and will help us continue appointing pro-gun/2A judges to courts.

Here’s my take on your take It’s trolling and you can put your opinion where the sun doesn’t.

What ever it is or isn’t shouldn’t be open to debate on this forum. I’ll ignore any membership opinion. Moderators not so much. I’ll leave this thread now.

1. on this board, moderators aren't right just because they're moderators. i'm not going to delete your posts if you disagree.
2. don't go before you explain why you think what the NRA did was a win for the 2A, and how you think the NRA is being effective in VA

As another moderator, I will opine that the analysis of the NRA is not without some merit.

It does have merit.... but in this thread, in the context of thia thread, IMO, the same could be said about whughett's analysis of the post he quoted.

It's not about the NRAs or WLPs spending habits.

As a long time member of the NRA, I was taken aback when the WLP facts came out. Instead of being good stewards of the resources we provide, he was taking care of WLP. He has tarnished the nra's reputation, and caused it to lose influence. Those are facts. Whether that is allowed to be talked about here seems to be in contention. I think it is appropriate, as I hope the NRA reads these threads. jmho!

What this may be is the ultimate result of having a Luddite run NRA.
That he only goes to his office about three days a week (all too common in CEO with 7 figure salaries) is bad enough.
That he has to have emails printed out and barely reads the newspaper is what is worse.
Apparently, he just goes over membership accounting--percentages gained or lost and amounts brought in.

Which is probably a legitimate day-to-day concern for a national rights organization.

However, being entirely out of touch with events right out side his window does suggest that having some one more in touch with current events would be a significant improvement. Where is ILA? Why do we not know the names of the 9 Senators who voted against freedom? Shouldn't we all be making them infamous? The people of Virginia deserve more than protestes, they need to know who would make them felons.

And yet, the NRA sleeps (other than to give out blue t-shirts).
