Been thinking of selling or trading my Mosin M44, but a little unsure of its value. It's a Romanian if that counts for anything. Matching numbers except for the bolt. I'd say very good condition.

I kind of assumed it was worth $90ish, but I've heard they are worth "a little more than a Mosin 91/30" which is going for that price. Also, Gunbroker has several listed for $250-300 (!), though not many bids at those prices. So, any idea as to the present value of a Romanian very good condition M44?

ccsniper is in the right ballpark. I picked up a Romanian M44 a few months ago and it was in that price range. Polish M44s run a bit higher, and Chinese T53s considerably lower unless they are in pristine shape.

But there are a number of factors that determine its value. For one, the year of production and state of the rifle. Matching numbers also increase its worth.

Lastly, there are a lot of overpriced Mosins on GunBroker, I wouldn't consider it a good source of pricing info for them...

A month ago I got a good deal (like the old days) on an unussued M 44 , TRZ marking which is Yugoslavian. The bore is mint , too.

surplusrifle.com (in their Mosin section) might be a better place to pose this question.

If it shoots well, has a good bore and generally good condition I would think that a Romanian would fetch more than the usual Russian guns, especially if you have all the accessories (sling, cleaning kit). Around here the Russians run $100-150 with 91/30 on the low end and M38 or M91/59 on the high end.

Soviet/Ukranian M44s used to be available at AIM and other vendors for $89 as of a couple years ago, but about a year ago the supply dried up. Now they tend to go for $100-150ish. They were mostly in "very good" condition. Romanian M44s probably won't go for quite as much as Polish (some of which are practically mint) but I wouldn't be surprised if you could get $200 for a nice one.

My nice laminated MN 44 sold for $200 at a gun show three months ago. It was very good/excellent condition.

Although the bore was bright with good rifling, using the oldest Bulgarian ammo my 'groups' (bayonet extended or not) were about 5-6".
My Enfield "Jungle Carbine's" groups are much better.

I took the MN 44 money, plus some more, and the next day bought my first Mauser (nice Yugo 48A: surplus 8mm ammo only .25/rd.) at the same show.

The Polish 44s at our shows are not laminated wood (and so what...) but are the best 44s around.

First off, thanks for the help in pricing. For some reason I hadn't really noticed M44s have been absent from the milsurp supplier web pages. Definitely explains the increase in value.

Ignition Override, that's kind of funny, because I want to sell it to fund a Mauser 24/47.
