Friends,

Verizon has dropped both the Sportsman and Outdoor Channels from their FIOS Cable TV Service.

Please give them a call or send an email to get these channels back in their line up.
You may call Verizon Customer Service at (800) 837-4966

Many people encounter positive depictions of hunting and shooting watching the great programs on these channels. Both of these channels are very supportive of our 2A and Hunting Rights, so we need to ensure they are available to the public.

Please do your part, and Thank You!

When a provider drops channels it's usually due to the parties not reaching an agreement that involves money. I don't have verizon cable and I don't know about this issue. I don't know if they are dropping the channels because politics or some other reason.

Anyways, you should (if you can)* drop verizon and get another provider. Show your concern with your wallet. Cable companies hate when they lose customers.

*I live in a city that is contractualy obliged (I think because of infrastructure stuff) to like 2 providers so my options are slim, I'm sure many have a similiar experience. AT&T and Cox are my option, I think I can get a variety of satellite providers though. Satellite is primarily for rural living and non-English speakers lol.

Thanks Sol, I agree it could just be due to money/contracts, but if we stand by and don't do anything, we will lose another channel of exposure in the market to positive images of guns and hunting, which is not a good thing.

Now there is a website on the issue... http://keepmyoutdoortv.com/

That is BS. Satellite is for those folks who do not like the offerings and prices of Cox and similar. I get all of those outdoor channels - but I rarely watch them as they are about as interesting as watching golf. But I also get channels at a lower rate that cable would have me buying the most expensive package to get.

I live in a city of 200,000+ and have satellite. Satellite internet may be mostly for rural areas but satellite TV is certainly not.

I have had satellite TV for 14 years. Not because I can't get cable. But because cable is more expensive and offers less channels.
.

I'm sorry but these responses are a good example of why we are losing our 2A Rights in this Country...

Can't we just focus on getting a positive message into the Market of Ideas about the RKBA and Hunting? These channels do that, so we need to act to ensure they are kept on the air.

Seriously, who gives a damn about the personal opinions on the medium: Cable vs Satellite...:banghead:

The thing to do is call and cancel your service and tell them why , I don't think it will take them long to get the message. I have Direct tv and wouldn't trade it for anything and no I don't work for them[emoji2]

This is probably entirely a business decision. Comcast had a similar battle with the NFL network a few years ago. They were not opposed to football.

If enough subscribers want a channel, it will be available.

If they decide to cancel a channel and they get enough pushback from subscribers the decision will likely be rescinded.

We are NOT going to have a hate cable TV derailment of the thread.

Stay focused on the OP's original point, keeping shooting TV shows out there for the public to see.

Do ya'll REALLY think that people who are against hunting, guns and shooting want to spend their time watching hunting shows when they could be watching Martha Stewart, Batman Returns, etc?

I think you're barking up the wrong tree.

This..

Direct tv still carries it.

Yep the sportsman channel and pursuit channel are included and I pay 3 or 4 a month for the outdoor channel
