Yeah, that seems like a good choice and use for those types of handguns. I think I read that one reason such handguns were popular for crime (not saying your use) was precisely because they were cheap and could be thrown away without much loss. One of my early "micro pistols" was bought with the same idea. Davis .380. At the time we could not get a CC law passed but, glove box carry was fine. I saw one of these in a shop for $50. Even back then that was not much cash so I bought one. Damn thing worked so it went with me. I kept it where when I left the vehicle some scum would have to really tear vehicle apart to find and figured if it got lost who cares. Again not much of a pistol or caliber but the old "better than nothing" came to mind. I sold it decades later for more than I paid for the damn thing or it would make a great "shower pistol". The "pot metal" they were made of was fairly corrosion resistant.
This is so true. I moved a week ago and can't find my gun belt. It's somewhere in a bag or box. Even with a light subcompact gun in a holster the last few days, I can see how a normal dress belt doesn't cut it.Get a proper gun belt.
If you want a micro that is "not to cry if lost", the Kel-Tecs fill that bill well. They seem to garner a LOT of hatred I have several and have lost track of how many pass by me and those I work with. Have yet to see a problem. One of the guys who worked for the owner started the Sccy Co. Have shot a couple of them. The compact, double stack 9's. Some call these micro as they pocket carry them. These too would be a great "beater" pistol for this. The state I live in made it a huge hassle to sell anything any more so I ended up with more guns than I have ever had at one time in my life. The one upside to this is having plenty to choose from for stuff like this. Another is guess the kids will have them when I shuffle offYeah, that seems like a good choice and use for those types of handguns. I've been fairly selective in my handgun buying, except a cheapy such as the Ruger Wrangler. I have two used handguns that were the same price but are quality and I don't want to abuse them (a flawless S&W Shield and Beretta Tomcat .32 acp). But I almost feel like I need a beater gun like we are discussing that also is a service or defense caliber/style of gun where I can not worry about it but have it for the shower, trunk gun, etc. I'd purpose my Shield for this, but I really like it lol.
