This is part 1 of my series on early lever action rifles. Part 2 will be on Spencer rifles.

The Henry was the first successful, cartridge firing repeating rifle. It was used prominently in some of the battles of Red Cloud's war in 1866 and 1867 on the Bozeman Trail.

he needs to learn how to safely load a henry. Just like not droping the follower you do not let rounds drop streight on top of each other. for the same reason as not dropping the follower. It will not be a pleasent surprise on one round sets the rest off. and yes it has happened.

+1, sharps59. I couldn't bear to watch the loading process (I was flinching every time he dropped a round) and skipped ahead to the shooting.

Usually I tuck the Henry under my arm with the magazine up and slide rounds in, but I couldn't seem to get positioned right with the camera and the sun to do it that way on video.
