Funny I was just looking at them. I am thinking of buying this one in the next couple weeks for my Saiga 12:

SFRDHUNT Vortex 1x30 StrikeFire Red Dot 30mm Sight
Matte
Red/Green Dot
30mm
Comes w/ Low Ring
SWFA: $129.95

I have heard good things about them. I believe the higher end Vortex Viper scopes are made in the Philippines by the manufacturer who makes Nikon Monarchs and the lower end scopes are either made in China or in the Philippines.

yes I was in the web page looking too..they seem like they range from cheap to really alot of bucks,,and t hey have sorts of scopes and binocks and spoting scopes.I looked at the crossfires too... not bad,, i cant find to see any reviews,,or find any, have you found any reviews? I need better glass then my simmons on my tikka 3 lite 223,,

Go over to the optics talk forum and search for Vortex. They've been talked about a bit and someone did a review on a vortex scope I believe. Also look at the Nikon Team Primos 3-9x40 which is a Monarch UCC for $200 and the Bushnell Elite 4200 3-9x40 for $290 and also the Sightron SII's.

yes I was looking at the team prmos,I have just put a nikon prostaff 3x9 on my 280, WOW what a nice clear scope,,i know its the lower end price, but you have to understnd I was dealing with the new redesigned simmons Master Series prohunters 3x 9, so that Nikon, was a super surprize when I looked throught that scope and it held zero shot after shot from the recoil of the winchester feather weight,in 280

I never heard of them,
not that i know or think i know everything, thats why I asked if any one uses them, and what they thought of them, I have one of my rifles up for sale on the highroad, maybe I can take some of the money and buy a good scope.or a better scope then what I have on my 223 now.I like to have at least 14 power on the high side. but to be able to use all the power,I read where some guys buy lower end scopes and bitch because when they go up to 24 power its not clear and they have to take it back to 12 or 14 power. That i dont want or need,,if its up to 14 power i want to be able you have a clear pic at the higher end,or for me its junk,,lol.but thats me,

I like to spend under 300 bucks

For under $300, 3-9x40 is the sweet spot for deals and most manufacturers have something around that configuration with really nice glass for cheap (relatively speaking). So I guess ask yourself if you really need 14x keeping in mind that military snipers have been making outrageously long kills using 10x scopes. If you do need that kind of magnification you will be making some concessions in glass quality and will probably be looking at the Bushnell 3200 Elites, Nikon Buckmaster level scopes which are fine but not quite the next level in optical technology.
