From what I can tell, W572 is faster than HS-6/W571. I was just wondering if Hodgdon came out with a powder that in close to what HS-5 was? They have discontinued several of the Winchester shotgun powders over the past few years, maybe they are filling the empty spots with a HS-5 replacement. Any thoughts?

It's hard to tell since Hodgdon has not added it to their burn rate chart yet. You would think they would do that since it is their powder. I wrote them asking where in the chart it fits.

I appreciate the help but word of mouth is too vague for me when I'm loading. I'm at a loss as to why Hodgdon hasn't updated their burn rate chart yet.

I totally understand.

I do find that a phone call, generally gets a quicker response than email there.

If there was something I needed to know quickly I would call them. I don't like taking up their phone time for something that isn't really all that important right now. I can wait for an answer, it usually comes within 48 hours. :)

After doing a search for burn rate charts, I'm really curious. Because I don't see, along with W572, BE-86, AR Comp, and a couple other newer Alliant powders on any charts.

It seems Hodgdon posted their current chart early this year. Western Powders chart is from late 2010. I can't find a chart from Alliant.

Anyhow, looking forward the response you receive. :)

I got an answer just before 6 PM tonight.

I was told it will be added to the chart soon and to expect to be just faster than HS-6. It sounds that it is not like HS-5 and that answer concerns me that HS-6 may be next on the chopping block.

Yikes, I hope not. I like HS-6 in the 9s for full throttle loads.

Thanks for the update!
