I work with a woman who has two young kids and another on the way. She and her husband have a handgun(not sure what kind doesn't matter) that is simply "hidden" in the closet on the top shelf. I was a bit stressed at this. :what:

So after a small conversation about safely securing firearms not just from kids but adults who have no business finding them she comes up to me yesterday and informs me that they took my advice and went out and bought an inexpensive handgun safe to secure the gun. They are also going to make sure the kids are brought up knowing about the gun, what it is etc. and taking the mystery out of it.

I used the analogy of kitchen knives being super dangerous but kids don't pay them a second thought because there is no mystery surrounding them so they should make sure the firearm has no mystery either.

So at the end of the day I did my part to mitigate the chances of any accidents, possibly did my part to bring up a few more kids who will not see firearms as inherently evil and the mom wants to learn how to shoot after she has the new baby.

All in all not bad for a days work. Remember we need to win over the middle ground not the militant anti gunners.

Take care.

Great job! Teaching people about responsible firearm ownership is key to restoring the 2nd Amendment in the minds of Americans.

You may have helped save those kid's lives.

I witnessed a potential 'event' involving a firearm and kid. Dad suddenly gets up from the table, runs to one of the back rooms. His 4 year old wandered away from the dinner party and started exploring.

Very good analogy. I use this quite often and it always seems to sink in. You can see that slow nod and gleam of understanding in the student's eyes.

Good job, sir.
