Just curious, at what point should I start being concerned if I will ever get a stamp? My 1st one for a .22 suppressor was 365 days exactly...this one for my 450 is going on 425+ days. Is there someone else to check with, other than the dumbbells at the NFA? The response of “its pending” is some what unfulfilling in my opinion.

Find your senator's website and they should have a option for help with a government agency fill out the release form and submit any other info they want.

After I see late october approvals showing up I will be doing same here.

Well over a year was fairly normal for a bit with the 41F rush, but that's pretty excessive now. Still, it's wildly unpredictable, with an approval on a July 2018 submission one day and a Dec. 2017 the next.

Unfortunately, there's really not a lot you can do about it.

The checks were cashed (or card charged), yes? And you're sure you didn't miss a packet with forms that were kicked back for some error?

All you can do is buy them asap.
If you think you want it, just get it.
For me suppressors take around 8 months, everything else closer to 4. But it's been years since I did an SBR or sbs.

My check cashed on September 10th for the latest form 4 I submitted. I figure I’ll get it around June or so. When I first got into NFA nearly 20 years ago it was usually only a 2 or 3 month wait.

I think part of what determines how long you wait is how many responsible persons you have listed on your trust. Remember that each one needs to be background checked.

I may be wrong, but I think it's just the same instant background check when you buy a gun. You mail you stuff to the atf, then 1 of the maybe 10 people working in that department manually enter all your data, call for a background check, then send the stamp. The bottleneck being the 10 people manually entering data. 99% of your wait time is all your forms sitting in a pile in a box by someone's desk.

Mine was done by a lawyer specializing in NFA stuff. Hopefully he didn't booger anything up, although I can't see where that would have happened.

It's probably fine. You probably just got delayed by the shutdown. With that said, I have to agree that BATFE's only response to questions ("It's still in process.") is very, very unsatisfying. I called them about a month ago about mine and got the same answer.
