Just returned from a Walmart near here (Deep South).

They were clearing out all Winchester D/T ammo: 9mm(T) $6/box, 45 ACP(T) $8/box, .380 Auto(T) $8 /box. All fmj-fp, except the .380 was JHP.

I assume similar on other calibers but not sure - I didn't need any .38 or .357 and don't shoot .40. I didn't check on rifle.

It will all go quick at those prices I expect but it was NOT advertised even at the counter - you must ask.

I’ve gotten some crazy ammo deals on clearance at Wally World. I make it a habit to walk by and see what is on clearance.

The humanity I would have to endure to get from the front of the store to the gun/ammo counter would be too much that the monetary savings wouldn’t be worth it. :)
Dunno ‘bout that.

Few years back they had .380 for (IIRC) $5 box at our local one. I bought all 14 boxes. Paid for it at the gun counter

So, at $70 for 14 boxes, I’ll go thru the process

That's less of a problem now; we have a new key procedure; Usually the Sporting Goods Mgr. (who happens to be my best friend) will let me know about ammo clearances immediately after the requisite 24 hrs. he must wait after pricing them down before he can buy them.

Ammo is finally leveling off. Thank Lord. I just purchased 500 rds for just under $80. I don't really recall a time where I got a better deal than that for brass 9mm. I also got 550rd packs of .22lr for $14 ea and they weren't even clearance. All the while the local gun shop next door is selling the same brand, same 550rd pack, for $45. I'm all about supporting the local shops and hate wal mart but every single item in the LGS is marked up unbelievably high. Not sure how they stay in business....

I thought I was doing good with two dollar boxes of Aguila .22 at Atwood's....... I guess I'll have to harangue the sporting goods people at Wally World.

I just got back from the one on Veterans and it’s only Winchester black box training ammo on clearance. The defense ammo is full price

Not to mention the riff raff, motor homeless and gang bangers in the parking lot. Wally World is dead to me. Wormhole to a 3rd world country.
Yes, but you are failing to appreciate the sheer entertainment value of a trip to Wal-Mart ... think, Star Wars Bar Scene ... :)

EDIT: Correct spelling OOPS

I've only seen the first one, but there's probably some gif out there of John Wick strapping up before heading out to a final battle that mimics myself going into Walmart.

My Wal Mart had the 9mm T for $11 and the 380 D for $13, which was less than the listed price but not as good of a deal.

It also was not listed anywhere as being less than the listed price. The associate I asked about the ammo on clearance looked at me like I had 3 heads since ammo is never discounted

Then that Sporting Goods Mgr. is not doing their job. It is normal for ammo to be discounted out, such as Turkey loads after season, etc. Smart Mgrs. also discount out some excess inventory before Annual inventory, (different times for different Stores/Markets/Divisions) so unless the Store Mgr. doesn't allow the Dept. Mgrs. much for discount dollars, they should be discounting something with regularity.

I buy a 10 pack or two of 2 3/4" Turkey 5's every spring after the season when they clearance them out, they are great late season pheasant shells.

I stopped by a few to see what was on clearance. Only one had the Win Train and the Defend on sale. I can’t recall the prices because it didn’t seem like enough discount for me to care.
