Now...I know we are in a recession right now, but I've always found y'all to be rather giving of your two cents ( ) so I thought I'd hold out the old panhandlers cup and see what gets dropped in.

I recently bought a Walther P22 and I got with it a Fobus paddle holster. The gun snaps in and fits perfectly and securely...the problem is it's a little too secure...I can't draw the darn thing! :what: It takes me both hands and about 20 seconds of wrestling to get the gun back out. Far from ideal. but...it came free with the gun courtesy of the store and I guess you get what you pay for ;)

Any suggestions on different holsters to look into or hints about how to loosen this one up without creating slop?

I also ( well, my wife.) have/has a p22. been thinking about a holster.

I also have a fobus holster I, sometimes, use with my Taurus. It did loosen up with time, but a lot of it is technique. When drawing the weapon, use a very quick initial movement, and it comes right out. If you use a slow pull, it stays put.

*lol* Sounds like I had the same Fobus as you, and had the same exact problem. I no longer own it, but try this.....it worked for me.

Put the holster in the oven (yes...in the oven) on about 200 degrees for a few minutes to heat up and soften the plastic a bit. Take it out (shouldn't be too hot...but be careful) and wedge something width-wise in the throat/opening of the holster to expand it out a bit (I used a pencil cut to the size I wanted). Keep this in the holster while it cools and it should 'generally' stay in the shape you want. Be careful that you don't expand it TOO much. That's the nice thing about Kydex...it can be manipulated very easily when heated.

Also...dry drawing with a real 'snap' to your draw. I found that the key to that Fobus was to break the seal of the pinch point before the whole holster comes flying out of your waistband!!
Good luck!

Just a suggestion, but if you want to keep from melting the holster you can boil it instead of putting it in the oven. My S( was extremely tight in the Fobus holster so i boiled the Fobus for about 2 minutes, pulled it out and put the gun (in a plastic bag) in the holster and flexed it around a little bit. Nice and snug now but easy to draw.

My back pocket usually holds mine....but Uncle Mike's makes one that fits it good, size 10 I think.

Not fancy, but I just use my P22 at the range-got it in a Bagmaster.

'Course, I have a couple of them old fancy leather holsters, but I still find myself carry my XD40SC and SIG P229R in Bagmasters also. :what:
