Warning For Verizon Wireless Users

Thank you

Thanks for the heads up. I have this phone and had no idea of this dangerous "feature". I'm just grateful to find out about this now when I can do something about it.

I work for Sprint and we don't have anything like that alarm.

New phones are GPS enabled for navigation purposes, as Craig_VA was saying, with one caviat: Most of these are not autonomous GPS; you have to be on the home network to get directions. There are a few independent GPS phones, but they're pricey.

I also work for that carrier (not verizon, the one the guy before me said) and I haven't heard of that either.

You think that's bad? A lot of new phones light up like a Christmas tree. A literal flashing light saying, "Here I am!"

Seriously, that's bad. This isn't something anyone would know about until they called 911, and then it might be too late. They need to make sure customers know about it and can turn it off.

I have a motorola q via verizon, and it gives out a series of three beeps *beepbeepbeep ... beepbeepbeep* Yes, its audible, it comes out of the speakerphone speaker, and yes, its audible from a 1/2 decent distance in my office.
My sprint phone does not do this. (I'm a tech, carry two phones).

Way to go verizon. :cuss:
