Hi all,

I recently aquired a WASR-10, and it seems to be ok. I checked for mag wobble and canted sight post. Everything but the furniture is fine. It seems to be great with stock steel waffle mags, but I picked up some polymer bulgarian 40 rounders at a gun show and they DO NOT FIT! I used a file on one of the magazines but it still doesn't rock and lock.

Anyone know what the actual specifications for the mag well are supposed to be? Is my magwell out of spec, or are the bulgy mags out of spec?

I appreciate any and all info!

-John

PS: I taught my buddy's wife how to operate the WASR because its staying at their place for the time being. I told her "if an uneducated communist conscript can do it, YOU can do it!" I don't think my buddy was very comfortable when she let the bolt fly home and said "So, honey, ever have thoughts of cheating on me? *big ole wolfish grin*"

Supposedly the WASR-10s have a lot of mag wobble. The amount of wobble varies rifle to rifle, but that's a discussion/flame war on its own. With that said, the Bulgy mags are supposed to fit tighter so maybe your mag well is actually cut correctly (this is assuming the average WASR has an oversize magwell that causes wobbling).

My favorite mags are the Yugoslavian 30-rd steel mag because they fit so well it actually eliminates mag wobble in my WASR, plus they have the BHO follower.
