Hello,

I told a friend that I would post this for her on several gunboards which I visit regularly. She is new to shooting and this was her first ammunition test. I'll show her any replies.

***********************************************

I wanted to do a test with a .22 LR 5 Inch barrel. I wanted to compare the difference between water jugs and denim covered water jugs. Handgun was an H&R revolver.

Here i am holding the gun...

Here is the gun and a couple of bare water jugs...

Here is the shot on the bare water jugs. It went through and through. The expansion is unknown but is suspected due to the water splashing on me!!!! :gah:

Here is the 4- layer denim covered jug.

As you can see no expansion was evident...

...But as you can it exited with enough force to flatten itself against a piece of metal.

I'm new to all of this, so this was my first test. I enjoyed it and I hope you did as well!!!!!!!! ;)

Thanks for the post and the photos. New to shooting and already testing, most excellent. I've learned a lot from people just trying stuff out and reporting their findings. Sure beats repeating the same old internet dogma.

You go, girl!

Next time, suggest you try with gallon jugs, at least 2 or 3 placed in a row on a board or piece of plywood. Also suggest you raise them to shooting height (or lower yourself) so the bullets will go straight into them. Then you should have both bare and denim-penetrating bullets to compare.

You might also like to compare hollow-points to solids as to depth of penetration through both bare and denim-covered jugs.

Thank you for posting your results! :D:D:D

I pity the fool!

that she takes potshots at with her H&R. I get a kick always out of the American Rifleman' armed citizen section where some elderly widow woman opens up on BG's come to steal her SS money with a .22 revolver of some sort. 1 or 2 dead, 1 or 2 in hospital with gunshot wounds.

All who are concerned about the eye protection: It was there in the movie, but not in the first pic. She is farsighted and wouldn't have been able to see the front site without them. I am using internal camera memory and am limited on my movie quality, but was surprised when they didn't show up (dainty lil' things they are, silverish with no rims). If you watch as she turns her head away from me, you can see a glint of sunlight.

I will try to find my old over-glasses shooting goggles so that they will be more visible on vid - or I may just run out and buy a flashcard and see if they show up better next time.

Sorry for the confusion!
