Need advice for the loads in Webley MK VI (1917) using 45 Schofield cases. It’s in nice shape and I am going to get spare cylinder that will be rechambered to 45 Schofield. Those Webley cases are difficult to get and quite pricey so I decided to go this way.

Can anybody suggest me loads using following Lyman bullets I have:

454424, SWC 260 gr
454190, FP 255 gr (would like to crimp it in front grease groove)
425374, RN 230 gr (for 45 ACP)

Loaded on OAL 1.450-1.500”, max. pressure as for standard 45 Schofield loads;

I found some loads on http://www.accuratearms.com/loaddat...dgun_cowboy.htm , and they look quite good, but Nitro 100 and Solo 1000 powders aren’t common in my area, No.2 from time to time, No 5 and No. 7 are easy to get, as well as Hodgdon and Alliant powders.

Would like to try just tad peppier loads than (bit anaemic) cowboy ones available from other websites, pressure limited to 12,000-13,000 CUP, with medium burning rate powders like No. 5, No. 7, (even No. 9), HS-6, HS-7, Longshot, Blue Dot, etc.

Any suggestion and advice welcome!

Thank you, Onty.

Why not use cut down 45 colt cases works for me in a shaved cylinder .

I did and made longer MK I (?!) version. However, it isn’t practical, the most of 45 LC cases require inside reaming, on top of trimming. I also made a special die to squeeze the rim on .040” thickness. Just too much hassle. Any way I slice it, 45 Schofield looks the best. On top of that, its rim is larger in diameter than 45 LC, thus making ejection more reliable.

Found this in my local baitshop.
