I was shooting my 4506 today and had a really weird thing happening: The last round in the magazine ejected unfired! the Slide stayed open as usual. Didn't even notice it. I had loaded 5 rounds and was wondering why the slide stayed open after 4 rounds fired.

First I thought maybe I had dropped the round and not put it in the magazine, but the guy in the lane besides me saw it coming out. Is this weird or what? I have fired several thousand rounds with this gun without a single malfunction and I also shot at least 100 rounds after it happened and could not repeat it again.

Any clue as of what caused this?

I was using the original magazine.

My guess was Magazine Lips bent open - but then again I kept shooting and it didn't happen again. Put the ejected round back in and it fed and fired just fine the second time around.

Hwody,

Do a search here on "Inertia!" It'll explain what caused it. A fresh
magazine spring will probably fix it. If Wolff makes an Extra-Power
mag spring for the 4506, buy one for each mag. Money well spent.

Luck!

Mine did the exact same thing last time I shot it. Mine has the original, metal floor plate, orange follower and I am sure it is the original spring. I can place this mag in the gun, empty, and it will just barely activate the slide stop. I am positive the spring needs to be replaced.

Current followers in the 4506 are black. Our armorers told us that the yellow and earlier had problems with weapon reliability- I guess this is the problem.

I have a batch of yellow follower mags that like to eject a round period, without being in the gun. Try new springs, first, that may do the trick.
