Welcome Back, Mr. Nightcrawler

Correia, don't you have the pull with Baen to get it published? Go tell your editor that if you self publish you'll sell a bundle and then they'll come begging anyway, so they might as well save the time and trouble and do the nightcrawler series right off the bat.

If Baen's just not looking for that style, find a pub who is, point them to this thread, and explain that it's good business for them to get in on the ground floor.

If THAT doesn't work, drop a frag grenade in the office, dive out the door into a shoulder roll while drawing your 1911A1, take our the two security guards in the hallway with expertly placed double taps, then......oh never mind.:neener:

Good luck on getting everything worked out. I'll be waiting.

BTW, do we get a patches if we preorder? I need something opposite the MHI patch on my skeet vest. (The free patches were the true secret to MHI's success.)

We've actually looked at some different logos for the organizations in the NC universe. Nothing official yet.

Nightcrawler: make a web series out of this. seriously. dirt cheap to make. get a few actors, a director, do webisodes whenever the mood hits you, make a website. get an agent, do some pitch meetings. can't hurt. good luck :)

I've thought quite a bit about making this into a movie (with the authors permission of course) but the scenery and such would be pretty expensive I'm afraid.

I bought and read MHI (the paperback version!) - great book! So now I go searching back thru THR to find this thread, and have spent the last 2 days reading all the 1256 (!) posts...

I'm really happy you are going to publish this story (and make it into a trilogy) because I'm just too old school; I feel better holding a book in my hands.

Keep updating us - and thanks for your effort!

Mike is still working on it, but he's on active duty, so that is slowing us up a bit. But he needs to concentrate on the not blowing himself up while playing with explosives part of his life more than the writing part. ;)

The story that began in this Mr. Nightcrawler thread will be 3 books.

Dead Six (corresponds roughly to this thread)
Swords of Exodus
Project Blue

Meanwhile, I'm now trying to sell an fantasy/alternative history set in 1932. The series is called The Grimnoir Chronicles, and this first book is called Hard Magic. I think you guys will like it. Think David Eddings epic fantasy meets Raymond Chandler hardboiled pulp, only with more ninjas. :)

So you leave us with MHI II hanging in the archives and then opine on a new thriller?
**** ****! :cuss:
I want my monsters and I want them now! :p

MHI does come to the rescue of befuddled internet keypunchers when necessary don't they? :)

Looking forward to you new work and hoping that NC doesn't get his ass in deeper than the shovel he has where he has it.

Mac

MHI:2 is just waiting for feedback from the publisher for the final revision. I don't have a contract for it, so don't know when it'll be out, but it is pretty much done.

As for Mike, have you seen Hurt Locker? Yeah, he volunteered for that stuff.

This entire thread is awsome. I finaly decided to read it a day or too ago, and LOVED it. a few things: When you publish the book, dedicate it to BlueBear. And am I the only person who sees Bourne refrences in here? The head bad guy comits suicide, his (first) girl gets killed, its a uber-top-secret assasination project, he releases the info to the general public, etc. See what I mean? Anyway, VERY good writing.

Another possible Bourne reference: the head bad guy kills himself in front of a woman. If I'm being anoying, let me know and I'll be quite.

Well. . ..you sucked **more** of us into the NCverse. . .

. . . hope you're happy, Larry.

Then we make you and NC rich, once it hits the street.

Hell, I can't believe this thread is still going. I wrote this in 2006!

Thank you all very much.

Larry did some arm-twisting on me. We're currently working on turning this into a trilogy of novels. I'm on active duty now and don't get on the board much, so if it takes me a long time to get back to you please don't be offended.

I got a question.

That means that will be 2 more books AFTER what this thread consists of?

In other words, the "Mister Nightcrawler, Book 1 of the trilogy" is a prequal to all the above-mentioned titles and won't be covered?

Anyway, loved them all, although I almost think the Original "There I was..again." With the Triad is my favorite :D

The story in this thread will become Dead Six, only it is 2x as long. It will be the first in a trilogy. A lot of things have changed though, so it will be a totally new read.

Swords of Exodus starts off a few months after the events at the end of this thread.

Thanks to whoever brought this one back. I liked the first one and loved this one. I will buy it once it gets published.

Awesome, so we get two versions of Dead Sixe to read ;)

I'm currently in the process of printing this out and then I can read it offline.

Wow.
Came to this late, four years after the fact (from Correia's post announcing the publication). Fifty-one vBuletin pages, 1269 posts, all in two days.

Gripping is not word enough in description (and I'm a Ringo fan by way of the BarFlies).
Best of luck, and continued success to you all.

Wow. I didn't know we could bring up threads this old. Sweet. :)

For those who haven't heard, Nightcrawler and I have taken this thread and turned it into a big novel. We just sold it to Baen Books and it will be coming out sometime in the future. (no release date yet).

And CapnMac, don't be shy telling all the other 'flies. If all of the Ghost/Kildar fans buy this we'll have a hit. :p

You know they will Larry. Then you'll just have to write more and more and...

Life's tough when you're a success. Eh? ;) (not that I would know)

AWESOME read! It takes talent to 'paint a picture' with words. As others have said, this would make an awesome movie.

This collaboration reminds me of two of my favorite authors: Stephen Hunter and William Johnstone. I can't wait to add a bound copy to my gun room's library.

Eagerly waiting for the next 'mission'......
