A buddy told me that the local Gander Mountain had a bunch of the surplus Sig Sauer P6s in stock so I thought I would go take a look. They had about 1/2 dozen in stock and were selling them for $319.99.

But right next to the display P6 was a like new Glock 17 with a $319.95 price tag on it. It was a newer one and it came with 3 full cap mags, new Glock case with mag loader and cleaning tools, manual, lock, etc.

I am at a loss to figure out GM pricing as there was a 1st gen G17 for $419 and another 3rd gen F17 for $459 on the same shelf. Needless to say, this one came home with me.

The funny thing is - I think it only had 3 rounds fired from it. The GM gunsmith was the one who waited on me and he said the gun was traded in unfired and he put 3 rounds through it to insure proper function.

Might just be gunshop BS, but the barrel and slide look like he's telling the truth.

Gander Mountain's pricing on used guns is bizarre as you noticed. Sometimes they will have a used gun on sale for more than a new one. What they sell it for is a set markup from what they paid. So if the Gander employee who appraised the used gun overpaid their sales price will then be out of wack.

+1 on that.

You got a deal.

I bought a MilleniumPro in their cabinet for $220 while a less expensive, older version Millenium was about $320...just $40 bucks less than their new price.

If I saw that Glock I would have grabbed it up.

I almost would like to stop by Gander Mountain weekly to see what boneheaded deals they put in their cabinets. Unfortunately, they store near me closed and it is now a 25 mile drive to the next nearest one. $15 bucks in car expense per trip would quickly negate the savings of finding something a couple times a year.

Gander mtn

I was in my local GM today they had a few of the sig 225 9mm a little ruff on the finish but still a nice gun for the money. But you did real good on the Glock 17 its a favorite of mine it the "frist Glock" but I was there to buy some slugs for reloading My my a box of 100 155 gr speer gold dots $27.95 plus tax Why didnt I stock up more!!!

Excellent deal, especially for the condition you describe. The Glock is one of those quintessential pistols that has it's place in everyone's collection. Stunning and beautiful it is not, but it does what it's meant to do and it does it well. Plus, you've got the original, if you will. It's the Glock 17; the first model that started the madness. Besides the 19, it doesn't get any better than that if you ask me.

Save up your pennies and grab a P6 if you can. Those are awesome pistols from the revered Sig era, and it would compliment your new Austrian buddy very, very well.

Congratulations. Now get out there and do some safe shooting, and of course - pictures!!!!

That's pretty ridiculous compared to the prices I was seeing online and in Austin brick & mortar shops. Good buy!
