Today I got a call from an out of state FFL with a NIB FN Hi-Power for a price I couldn't pass up. Ran down to the local shop to set up the transfer. Shop owner pissed and moaned about me buying from out of state, but he knows my money is good.

While we're messing around, a clerk sets 5 ex-Sacramento PD 870's on the table. A pretty clean Wingmaster caught my eye. Grabbed it, checked it out, and said, "make it happen". Felt really dirty buying a shotgun in the PRK stamped with the markings of the PD of our state capitol. I like that dirty feeling. Putting evil guns back on the street. :D

Brand new factory synthetic stocks, parkerizing in decent shape, but well worn from the rack. Small dings on end of the barrel that a file will remove. Functioned tested fine. Out the door with tax and DROS for $295. not a steal of the century, but a good solid riot gun. I'll take a solid used older Wingmaster over a new HD. We have a whole 'nother defination for good prices on used guns then most of the rest of you guys. :)

Didn't really go home with it as I have to wait 10 days, but by the time my 10 days are up, the HP I ordered will have arrived so I can go in, pick up the 870, and start my 10 days on that.

April is shaping up rather well.

I take it you're talking about M.B Rettings. :D

I was in there yesterday looking at the used shotgun racks for a clean Wingmaster (as usual) and saw all the police trade ins.

There did seem to be a few in good condition, all seemed to be mechanically sound. Looks like you'll have a nice shotgun after some scrubbin' and cleanin'.

Congrats.

It is, after all your posts and recommendations that I stop by Rettings every once in a while to see what they have on their used racks. :)

Rettings is OK. I like Doug and a few of the other guys there. Some are just plain jerks, but if I turn my head just so, they sound like the adults in Charlie Brown specials and I can ignore them. :D

I think I got a decent 870 out of the bunch they had. More then a few magnums, but I really liked the PD markings on this one and it was in good shape. Action was smooth. I think it will be a good candidate for a surefire forearm. I really didn't want to change the character of my 1950 Wingmaster so this works out well for me.

Dave was right. 870's do breed.... :)

They do not breed,Gunz, but they do multiply....

My guess is this is near new inside. Cruiser shotguns get carried lots and shot little. Do a detail strip and clean, lube everything with a light hand and go shooting....

I just got my first 870 yesterday. Taking it to the range tomorrow. 18" bbl. Synthetic furniture, etc. Would liked to have a WingMaster, but could not find one used. So I allowed myself to get talked into a brand new Express Magnum. We will see how it shoots :D
