What .308 Winchester load would have the closest trajectory to the 8x57 JS Military load?

I have this old FN Mauser 98 large ring receiver and I'm thinking about putting a .308 Winchester barrel on it that has the same contour on it as the K98k so I can use K98k sights on it. I would put a sporter stock on it. Obviously I can't propel a 196 gr bullet at around 2650 fps in .308.

But you can propel a 180 with better BC's at 2600-2650. I'm betting that out to 300 yards it is pretty close, but the 308 will shoot flatter at longer ranges. I'm getting 2630 with Hornady 178 ELD-X's from my 308's. I've seen some loads for a 200 gr out of a 308 @ about 2550, but haven't spent much time working with bullets that heavy in 308.

I've found the "standard " 168bthp load to closely parallel Yugo M76 ball to 600 yards or so in terms of trajectory and wind calls. The 7,92 sample I had was Yugoslavian M76 sniper ammunition fired through both an M48 ersatz sniper rifle and an M76B Yugoslavian sniper rifle. 7.62 rifle was a CZ made sporting rifle, also converted to sniping use in that hell hole with RUAG 168 grain OTM.
