I injured my knee in February, and I am getting back into running long distances.

I read about this type of competition years ago, and I cannot find the article again. It is a 5k run with a rifle (usually a .22 LR IIRC) with a few shooting stations along the way. The scoring is a combination of your run time and the scores you shoot. Anyone ever heard of this, or am I dreaming this up?

I knew a few marines that did the running biathalon every chance they got. Skiing, Running, Rowing a boat, as long as some sort of activity that keeps your heart rate up for a long period of time could be called a Biathalon.

It was called the Summer Biathlon. It was a private that would be licensed by the local venues. Knock-down targets loaned to the site etc.

Blindrat,

That is exactly what it is! Thank you very much.

Any yes, is does sound like it needs more shooting, but I still like running.

I call it way way way too much running and not near enough shooting.
With a heart rate of 200 as you approach the firing line, I'd imagine "enough shooting" becomes enough shooting a lot sooner... :)

I tend to agree with the "way way way too much running" part of the argument, though. :D
